INCREDIBLE BIRDS

Incredible! Fantastic!  Beautiful!  Show-off!  Unreal!  I mean, a few look like they were painted.  Decide for yourself.

Bleeding Heart Pigeons

Flamecrest

Formosan Magpie
Looks like something out of 'Harry Potter'

Golden Pheasant

Green Jay

Himalayan Monal
Looks like someone was busy with a paint brush.

Kingfisher

Lady Amherst's pheasant

Nicobar Pigeon
Looks nothing like the pigeons around here.

Peacock
Show off!

Quetzal
The tail is longer than the body!

Sup. Polish Chicken
Well, that was the title given with the photo.  I went looking online
to see what the Sup. might be (Superior?)  I found two things -- these same
photos, or recipes for Polish chicken soup.
Is that thing real?

Winson's Bird of Paradise
That does not look real to me.  Just look at the curly cue tail ends!

So I suppose you want something funny after all those fancy feathers --

  1. Nicobar pigeon has an amazing 'feather-shawl.' If yarn could come in that color combo.

  2. @LynnM: that's a color combo Lisa Souza at lisaknit.com would do in a second, and she's got a similar one already.

Did you know the Rock Pigeon, ie the common one you see all the time in cities, is an introduced species? When, gee, we could have had that Nicobar one instead! (Don't give anyone ideas.)

  3. LynnM I was thinking that very thing! It is almost the same color as Malabrigo in Kaleidos (I will email that to her directly, Don)

I love looking at birds! One of the things on the wish list for the new home is a great place for watching birds out the window. We mostly get cardinals, blue jays, finches and so forth (and mourning doves)

  5. Hey Don, It's a silver laced polish chicken. Go to efoul.com to buy chicks and raise your own.
