IDENTITY CRISIS

The weather has been just gorgeous lately, and so this afternoon I scootered down the street to the Baskin Robbins for a root beer float. Haven't had one in some while. I managed to take it outside without spilling it, and so I could enjoy it along with the sunshine. After a while the owner of the store, an Asian lady (Kimmee was the name on her tag), came out to see how I was doing. She had remembered me from when I had ordered the ice cream birthday cake.

Now I was the one who ordered the cake, but it was Cliff who picked it up. And today Kimmee said to me "You enjoyed cake?" "Oh, yes, we certainly did." "Your son, he look just like you." Well, I don't think Cliff and I look alike, and I said to Kimmee, "He's adopted." She gave me a blank look, so I repeated, "He's adopted." "Well, he look like you anyway," was her response.

This isn't really funny -- just mind boggling!

Any idea what's being loaded into the plane? No?

Picture was taken in 1956... it's a Hard Disk Drive back in 1956... With 5 MB's of Storage.

In September 1956 IBM launched the 305 RAMAC, the first 'SUPER' computer with a hard disk drive (HDD). The HDD weighed over a ton and stored a 'whopping' 5 MB's of data.

Do you appreciate your 8 GB Memory Sticks & 2 Terabyte HD's a little more now?

(Thank you, Sandy)

  1. I did what Kimmee did when a colleague brought his son to work--"step"son. Boy, they DID look alike and everyone made that mistake once.

  2. We have, somewhere, a souvenir computer disc from back in the days. It's enormous.
