ODDS AND PIECES

Or bits and ends.  Or ... oh, never mind.

Many years ago, Amalie discovered a local bakery that had a bread that she particularly liked.  I have been buying it ever since. Now that I no longer shop, I phone the bakery to place the order, and Cliff picks it up when he  goes out to buy our groceries.

I called the other morning to order another loaf. Some gentlemen answered the phone, and I said, “this is Mr. Meyer,...” and before I could get any further, the gentleman said, “Mr. Meyer! I haven’t heard from you in a long time!”

Well, yeah. Different people answer the phone when I call.

The following photo was in the paper the other day.  The caption read ‘Aiden Land, wearing Year of the Snake face paint, admires Dragon Dancers.’

Yeah, it sure looks like he’s admiring them.

G. Wayne Clough is Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution.  In the March issue of Smithsonian magazine, he talks about "...a hidden gem in our network of museums and centers: the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute, in Front Royal, Virginia, a unit of the National Zoo."

He goes on to talk about the somewhat unusual animals the scientists study, and then went on to say, "On a personal note, a Przewalski's horse born during my tenure, an endangered ancient line of horses, was graciously named after my wife, Anne.  (Anne, I can report, is now a healthy 585 pounds, and I do mean the horse."

CHILDREN’S LETTERS TO GOD

Dear God, Is it true my father won't get in Heaven if he uses his golf words in the house?  Anita

Dear God, I bet it's very hard for you to love all everybody in the whole world. There are only 4
people in our family and I can never do it.  Nancy

Dear God, I like the story about Noah the best of all of them. You really made up some good ones. I like
walking on water, too.  Glenn

Dear God, My grandpa says you were around when he was a little boy. How far back do you go?
Love, Dennis

Dear God, Do you draw the lines around the countries? If you don't, who does?  Nathan

  1. Leaving me hanging like that... Which bakery? Where? We had a fabulous one in town till the Atkins Diet craze drove them out of business and the baker and his family moved to Santa Cruz. If I knew for sure I could still get his almond muffins I would drive there to pick some up.

  2. Speaking of being left hanging, let me know if God gets back about the "golf words" thing. My Dad might want to know. (He should be okay. "Sugar" is his curse word of choice around women and children.)
