The other evening I watched a biographical Netflix movie about William Claude Dukenfield, better known as
W. C. Fields. He was an American comedian, actor, juggler and writer, though probably better known for his movies, which happened primarily back in the ’30’s.
The film is titled W.C. Fields and Me, from the book of the same name. I found the movie moderately all right, but what absolutely fascinated me was the job turned in by the actor who played Fields.
Courtesy of Google, here is a photo of W. C. Fields.
And here is a photo of the actor playing the part. Do you know who it is?
Ok, here is the actor you may recognize. Yes, that is
.....
. . . . .
. . . . . .
Rod Steiger
Not only did he look like Fields, but the voice interpretation was right on! Just amazing!
Incidentally, some of Field's movies are available on Netflix.
A bit of local fun --
FROM THE POLICE BLOTTER, SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, FRIDAY, MARCH 15, 2013
Los Gatos:
“A 22-year-old female driver with front end damage including a flat tire and bare rim, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.” Gee, I wonder what the car looked like.
And on another day, same paper -- (I think the headline writer was having fun:)
