You are on a horse, galloping at a constant speed. On your right side is a sharp drop off.

And on your left side is an elephant traveling at the same speed as you.

Directly in front of you is a galloping kangaroo and your horse is unable to overtake it.

Behind you is a lion running at the same speed as you and the kangaroo.

What must you do to get out of this highly dangerous situation safely?

The Ultimate Answer  (Nothing to do with the quiz)

Apple has a Personal Assistant on its iPhone 4s called Siri that you talk to.  It (or ‘she’, since it is a female voice) can send messages, schedule meetings, place phone calls, and much more.  But my mentioning it is not an ad for Apple.  Apparently Siri ”understands” what you say and can talk back. Now some folks have discovered that Siri will answer more esoteric questions, such as, “What is the meaning of life?”

Turns out she/it has an assortment of answers to that question, including:

“I don’t know. But I think there’s an app for that.”

“Try and be nice to people, avoid eating fat, read a good book every now and then, get some walking in and try to live in peace and harmony with people of all creeds and nations.”

“I give up.”

“Life: a principle or force that is considered to underlie the distinctive quality of animate beings. I guess that includes me.”

“To think about questions like this.”

“42.”  (Sorry, Russ and Sandy.  I think I gave you the wrong number.)

“Life: the condition that distinguishes animals and plants from inorganic matter including the capacity for growth, reproduction functional activity and continual change preceding death.”

“I can’t answer that now, but give me some time to write a very long play in which nothing happens.”

And my favorite:

“All evidence to date suggests it’s chocolate.”

  1. I think some engineers were having fun being Siri-ous.

  2. Despite the fear and the 50p price, I kept taking my toddler on that dangerous ride!

It was a brilliant Victorian-style merry-go-round in Bristol. I wonder if after all the high-tech rides over the years, the kid even remembers this enchanting one. I know she liked the 4 story escalator-ride near the big glass window at Debenhams.

  3. I know I'm off topic, but it was a seriously good escalator that looked over the merry-go-round.
