Q & A

Every Friday at Avenidas, at one o’clock, we have a program entitled “What’s News”. It doesn’t always hold, but the notion is to stick with good news. As things have developed, ‘good news’ is anything that is not bad news. As a result there are a wide variety of news items presented. For example, this past Friday brought the good news that football season is about to begin, and there was some discussion about ‘football widows’ and that the best policy was if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. Which led to the question of the NCAA college rankings. It turned out that the newspaper mentioned a few of the rankings, but not which team was ranked Numero Uno. Now it also turns out that there is not one definitive ranking, but several, so you may have your choice. After all, these are (supposedly) educated guesses, and the games are yet to be played. Anyway, here is one listing of the top 10:

1 Oregon (also ranked third)
2 Oklahoma
3 Alabama (also ranked second)
4 LSU
5 Stanford (also ranked seventh)
6 Boise State (also ranked fifth)
7 Oklahoma State
8 South Carolina
9 Texas A & M
10 Wisconsin

Have fun rooting for your favorite pundit.

Another issue that arose was something about a Longhorn Cowfish. The black and white photo in the paper looked more like a pig, but, well ... Someone wondered what it looked like in color. When in doubt, Google it. Here are two that I found:

I also found a Cowfish Rating for those who may have an aquarium.  On a scale of one to five, with one being low, this aquatic wonder rated 2 in ease of care, 3 in temperament, 5 in intelligence, 2 in upkeep, and 2 in lifespan.

For fun of a different kind --

FUNNY SIGNS

On an Electrician's truck:
"Let us remove your shorts"

In a Non-smoking Area:
"If we see smoke,  we will assume you are on fire
and take appropriate action."

At an Optometrist's Office:
"If you don't see what you're looking for,
you've come to the right place."

On a Taxidermist's window:
"We really know our stuff."

  2. I'm going with Boise State because I never heard of them.

Makes me think of "Boycie" (this guy: http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/onlyfools/uncovered/boycie.shtml) WHO is interested in breeding tropical fish! Ever watch "Only Fools and Horses"?
