FUN AT AVENIDAS

Friday morning, when I arrived at Avenidas, Laura the Activities Director, said she needed a photo of me for their files.  I agreed, and she snapped a picture.  (I trust this won’t show up on Post Office walls sometime).  Then Audrey, one of the activity aides, snuck in behind me, put these rabbit ears on my head, and Laura took another picture.  Audrey is the one on your left, with the pink hair.  And she was wearing the rabbit ears Friday.  Her birthday was April 1, and she wanted to celebrate.

Later Laura and Audrey were talking, and Laura said something about ‘hair’.  (No, I wasn’t eavesdropping!)  So I asked Audrey if Laura had called her ‘hare-brained’.  “DID YOU HEAR WHAT HE CALLED ME?” Audrey called to the crowd.  Hey, I was just asking a question.

There was broccoli on the lunch menu, and one fellow at our lunch table was proclaiming loudly that he didn’t like broccoli!  (I don’t either, but I don’t talk about it.)  He said he’d rather have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!  Someone else at the table suggested he’d get a peanut butter and broccoli sandwich.  I don’t think that went over too well.

Humor --

This is about the couple who go to a Chinese restaurant for dinner.  They order the Chicken Surprise, and in due time the waiter brings them a big pot with a lid on it.  The woman starts to reach for it, but before she can touch it, the lid rises up a bit, two beady eyes peer out, and the lid slams shut.

EEK! yells the startled woman, and she pushes the pot over to her husband.  “Here, you try it,” she tells him, but again, before he can touch it, the lid again rises up, the two beady eyes peer out, and the lid slams shut.  The startled husband calls the waiter over, and explains what happened.

“What you order?” asks the waiter.
“The Chicken Surprise” answers the husband.
“Oh, so sorry,” says the waiter, “I bring you Peking Duck.”

See you on Monday.
