In the center near the top of the photograph you may find a small red dot.
That is the location where I grew up in San Francisco.
Traffic looks pretty light here.
Perhaps you can read the text that came with the photo, but can you tell that the phrase,
"on November 20, 1940" is lined out. That's because too many of those automobiles look like early' 50's.
More traffic here. Notice the curvature of the bridge. The engineers built that in deliberately.
That curvature will show again in one or two more pictures.
Well, on the 50th anniversary the bridge certainly was not curved – up. There was concern
that the weight of some 800,000 people might cause the bridge to collapse. It didn't.
No, this is probably not a night shot. Welcome to a typical foggy day in San Francisco.
When the fog gets this low to the ground, even large things tend to disappear.
One can hardly see the bridge behind the ship.
On the other hand, when the day is clear, it is absolutely beautiful!
And when it is as clear as this day, the boats are out en masse.
Notice the curvature of the bridge in this shot.
It's pretty rare when a non-vehicle crosses the bridge.
This looks very much like a sunset picture, but the caption says it's at sunrise. Either way,
it's a beautiful shot, and a great way to end this series.
I'm not sure we can call the following funny, but it may be quite appropriate – –

ELEVEN: No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting.
My favorite photos of the bridge are the ones I took back in May last year when the USS Iowa passed underneath it on it's way to Southern California. It was quite a sight!
