QUIZ TIME

Answers below

1.  What do you put in a toaster?

2.  Years ago Germany was politically divided into West Germany and East Germany.  Assume that at that time a plane is flying at 20,000 feet over Germany. During the flight, two of the engines fail. The pilot, realizing that the last remaining engine is also failing, decides on a crash landing procedure. Unfortunately the engine fails before he has time and the plane crashes smack in the middle of "no man's land" between East Germany and West Germany. Where would you bury the survivors?  East Germany, West Germany or in "no man's land"?

3.  Say "silk" five times. Now spell "silk." What do cows drink?

Without using a calculator - You are driving a bus from London to Milford Haven in Wales. In London, 17 people get on the bus. In Reading, six people get off the bus and nine people get on. In Swindon, two people get off and four get on. In Cardiff, 11 people get off and 16 people get in. In Swansea, three people get off and five people get on. In Carmathen, six people get off and three get on. You then arrive at Milford Haven. What is the name of the bus driver?

FIND OUT WHAT A PUGGLE IS

A puggle is a baby echidna.  Now that tells you a lot.  I’d never before heard of echidnas or puggles, but learned that the echidnas are related to the platypus.

Not many people have seen a puggle, and when they do, a smile from ear to ear is guaranteed!
The Taronga Wildlife Hospital has recently become home to a 40 day old Echidna puggle,
found on a path in a caravan park.  Annabelle, a Taronga Vet Nurse and
surrogate Mum to ‘Beau’, had not seen a puggle at such a young age
in over 15 years of caring for sick and injured wildlife at the Zoo.

The rarity of seeing an Echidna at this age is due to the habit of the adult females who stash
their young in a burrow from about 50 days old. The puggle remains in the burrow for some
months, with the female going out to feed, returning every few days to feed it milk.

Both Echidna and Platypus feed their young in an unusual way. Instead of having teats
like other mammals, they have milk patches which excrete milk for their young to lap up.
This is why Annabelle has to feed Beau from the palm of her hand, so it can lap milk as it
would do in the wild. Once feeding, Beau resembles a mini vacuum cleaner, going back
and forth making sure every drop of milk is sucked up – contributing to its ever growing belly.

NORTHERN LIGHTS

Beautiful sights.  No need for any comment from me.

This one looks like a painting.

Punderful!

A group of chess enthusiasts checked into a hotel, and were standing in the lobby discussing their recent tournament victories.  After about an hour, the manager came out of the office, and asked them to disperse.
"But why," they asked, as they moved off.
"Because," he said. "I can't stand chess-nuts boasting in an open foyer."

A woman has twins, and gives them up for adoption. One of them goes to a family in Egypt , and is named 'Ahmal.' The other goes to a family in Spain ; they name him 'Juan.' Years later, Juan sends a picture of himself to his birth mother. Upon receiving the picture, she tells her husband that she wishes she also had a picture of Ahmal. Her husband responds, "They're twins! If you've seen Juan, you've seen Ahmal."

Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail and with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. This made him (oh, man, this is so bad, it's good)...A super-calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.

A dwarf, who was a mystic, escaped from jail. The call went out that there was a small medium at large.

And finally, there was the person who sent twenty-one different puns to his friends, with the hope that at least ten of the puns would make them laugh. No pun in ten did.

HARE– RAISING EXPERIENCE!

Thank you, Russ and Sandy.

Ever since their retirement, Russ and Sandy have done a lot of traveling. This time they went to a cold clime, Churchill, Canada. Lots of polar bears, and other wildlife. But what I want to show you is a bit of the humorous stuff. One of the tour guides was a lady named Susan who is given to puns. It appears she has a thing about rabbits. For example:

We were transported to the airport, or as Susan would say, the Hareport.

Q What is a Bunny's drug of choice?s
Heroin.

Q What do you call a row of bunnies walking away?
A.  Receding hare line.

Q What do you call a bunny who has been run over?
A.  Flat hare.

Q.  What do you call an old lady bunny?
A.  Blue hare.

Q.  What are a tailor bunny’s important tools?
  Hare pins

It appears that the Canadians have an interesting sense of humor. Have a look at the way they report the weather. – –

And just to complete this silliness --

 This is a snow hare,

and

this is no hare.

SURPRISE!

I thought Roger had moved to Chile after he retired. But then the other day I received the following email:

Hi Don,
I'm glad you liked the photos from Patagonia. A couple of captions are incorrect.

Hope you are well.
Regards,
Roger

Sooo, maybe the following captions are right, and maybe not.

I don't know where this is, but that looks like Roger.

Looks like snow on the mountain top.

Roger, again.

Trevelin is a town in the Patagonian Argentine province of Chubut.

The town was important in the Welsh settlement of Chubut. It was named Trevelin, the Welsh for "mill town") after the first mill, known as "Los Andes", was established there by John Evans in 1889.

One of the tourist attractions of TrevelĂn is the grave of Malacara, Evans' horse,
who a few years earlier in 1884 had saved his master's life by a prodigious leap.

In 1902, following a territorial dispute between Argentina and Chile,
the inhabitants of the area voted to remain in Argentina.

Nanty Falls: The meaning of the name comes from the first word of Welsh origin
meaning stream, and the latter of English origin, meaning waterfall or jump.

This site is also a good place for camping and recreation.

Why we love children

ELDERLY
While working for an organization that delivers lunches to elderly shut-ins, I used to take my 4-year-old daughter on my afternoon rounds. She was unfailingly intrigued by the various appliances of old age, particularly the canes, walkers and wheelchairs. One day I found her staring at a pair of false teeth soaking in a glass. As I braced myself for the inevitable barrage of questions, she merely turned and whispered, 'The tooth fairy will never believe this!'

DRESS-UP
A little girl was watching her parents dress for a party. When she saw her dad donning his tuxedo, she warned, 'Daddy, you shouldn't wear that suit.'
'And why not, darling?'
'You know that it always gives you a headache the next morning.'

SCHOOL
A little girl had just finished her first week of school. 'I'm just wasting my time,' she said to her mother. 'I can't read, I can't write, and they won't let me talk!'

BIBLE
A little boy opened the big family Bible. He was fascinated as he fingered through the old pages. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages.
'Mama, look what I found,' the boy called out.
'What have you got there, dear?'
With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered, 'I think it's Adam's underwear!'
